    Robert.E.Lee surrendered with the plan of recuperating in North Carolina but the few hour court meeting made an end to the 4 year Civil War.

    John Wilkes Booth(a confederate sympathizer) assassinated Lincoln at the theatre, only 5 days after Robert.E.Lee surrendered.
