At the Consituional Convention, it was agree that every 3 out of 5 slaves would count ptowards reresentation in Congress. Help lead to the Civil war because as states were added debate over free states v states increased. -
Missouri Compromise
The balance of the North and South became unequal which started to cause many problems. To make everything equal between the North and South. The Missouri Compromise was a cause to the Civil War because it was the first of many fight between the North and South. It was trying to slove slavery but was only a temportray soulation. -
Mexican and American War
The united states fought Mexico over the separtion between the Texas and Mexico. The land between the two would cause the war. The explanation of the land is one of the cause of the Civil War because with the more land, the issue of slavery would continue. -
Compromise 1850
California became a free state part of the union because of the compromise which allowed them to.Which also let New Mexico,Nevada,Arizona and Utah later be able to choose weather they wanted to be a slave or free state. Was supposed to keep the nation together. -
Fugitive Slave Act
Runway slaves would be sent back into the south and also would have to deal with not being free at all because if they we free there would be no trail of them being free again. Every black be force to work and nothing anybody could do about it. Lead to the Civil war because the union felt like the south start to take over more because of slaves. -
Uncle Tom's Cabin by Harriet Beecher Stowe
Harriet Beecher Stowe had written this book in order to open up everyone into seeing how slave are treated. The way whites force them to work without anything in return. It is a cause of the civil war because it started to make everyone know what was really happening. -
The Abolitionists Movement- Fredrick Douglus
Abolitionst are those who don't support slavery. One of the major people that lead the movement was Fredrick Douglous. On the July 5 he made a speech about how slave see 4th of July just another day. With more and more Whites saying the side of slavery more and moer wanted to stand up for slavery to end. The Union had more people that wanted to go into war because of it -
Kansas-Nebraska Act
Stephen A Douglas had brought up the issuse about Kansas and Nebraska, if they would be a free or slave state. He wanted the liberty to choose to be either. It cause f the civil war because it lead the division of the nation competely. Cauing more problem between the North and South. This election was very close. Abraham lincoln had won which cause the South the worry aboutslavery ending which they didn't want. It was a cause of the Civil War because it was the start of the South wanting to not be apart of the nation. The separtion of th Union and Confederacy.
