    One of America`s mistakes was this case where the Supreme Court ruled that enslaved people were not citizens but property.
  • 13th amendment Ratified

    No Slavery nor Indentured Servitude in the U.S. except as a punishment for a crime
  • 14th amendment ratified

    14th amendment ratified
    One of the most used amendments for protections.
    All people born on U.S soil are citizens.

    All citizens have equal protections under the law.
  • 15th amendment ratified

    Granted African American men the right to vote.
  • Plessy v. Ferguson

    Plessy v. Ferguson
    Another unfortunate Supreme Court decision where the Supreme Court ruled that segregation laws did not violate the equal protection clause of the Fourteenth Amendment.
  • 19th amendment

    19th amendment
    Granted woman the right to vote.
  • Voter ID Laws

    Voter ID Laws
    Voters must register to vote (must have proper evidence). When it was first placed effect it was used to disenfranchise people of color and woman with unfair tests to decide whether a person could be eligible to receive the ID.

    The Supreme Court ruled that segregation in schools was unconstitutional and against the 14th amendment.
    (Went against ruling in Plessy v. Ferguson)

    Policies in place to help people of color get into things which had previously been white only (or mostly).
