  • Brown v. Board of Education

    This court case resulted in the passing of the law stating that all public schools throughout the united states must be integrated.
  • Montgomery Bus Boycott

    Rosa parks was arrested for not giving up her seat on the bus to a whiter person. This then began the bus boycott throughout the whole state of Alabama.
  • Georgia Flag of 1956

    Georgia was very angry due to the fact that the federal government said that they had to integrate schools. To symbolize Georgia's, hatred, they made a new flag that integrated the confederate war flag.
  • Augusta Movement

    In March 1960, students from Augusta's historically black Paine College initiated the direct action phase of the city's Civil Rights movement when they organized sit-ins at area department stores.
  • Albany Movement

    It was a civil rights movement which resulted in the arrest of thousands of black protesters.
  • March on Washington

    The March was done to protest equal job rights for all citizens no matter race or gender.
  • I Have a Dream Speech (MLK)

    Martin Luther King Jr told his speech during the March on Washington in which he called for the end of racism in the United States.
  • Civil Rights Act of 1964

    This event ended segregation in public places and banned employment discrimination based on religion, race, gender or nationality.
  • Voting Rights Act of 1965

    It was signed into law by President Lyndon B. Johnson, aimed to overcome legal barriers at the state and local levels that prevented African Americans from exercising their right to vote as guaranteed under the 15th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
  • Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Assasination

    On April 4, 1968, Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated by a sniper's bullet while standing on the second-floor balcony of his room at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee.
