    Freedom Riders
    Student volunteers began taking trips through the South, testing out laws that prohibit segregation. They were attacked by angry mobs along the way. The program was sponsored by The Congress of Racial Equality (CORE) and the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC)
