    Herman Talmadge farther of Eugene Talmadge was apart of the 3 goveners controversy. What the 3 govenors controversy is when 3 govenors, Ellis Arnell, Melvin Thompson, and Eugene Talmadge claimed to be the govners of Ga all at once. This made Ga. look terrible and unorginzied. Herman Talmadge died before going into office although. So his son Eugene attempted follow the footsteps of his farther.
  • Brown.vs.Board

    This changed schools forever. This was a Supreme Court case and stated theres no such thing as "Seperate but Equal". This overtuned the Plessy.vs.Ferguson case that said that segregation was legal... as long as it was equal. This relates to Ga. since it was in southern states
  • Sibley Commision

    In 1960 Ga. Governor had a decision to make, either integrate/desegregate schools or to keep them how they are. To avoid any conflict with Ga's federal government he allowed the Ga. General Assembly to decide.
  • SNCC

    Group of students who started a NON-VIOLENT protest. The was like a march or a sit-in. This took place in the south to show inequality. This happened in the state of Ga. also.
  • Albany Movement

    Held by multiple civil rights leaders and organizations to place attention on the city in Ga. Albany. It was a NON-VIOLENT protest just how the SNCC did theirs. Eventually, Albany integrated their facilities.
  • Civil Rights Act

    The Civil Rights Act of 1964 outlawed discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, or national origin in southern states.

  • Andrew Young

    First African-American representative of Congress. He was also a civil rights activist and helped Martian Luther King Jr. He was also Elected as the second African-American mayor of Atlanta. He worked to bring the Olympic games to Atlanta.
