This decision lead to integration and lead tot he 14th amendment. The courts vote was (9-0) saying it was unconstitutional. -

The school was segregated and blocked nine kids from entering. This lead the case of brown vs the board of education -
Montgomery bus boycotte
On December 1 1955 Rosa Parks got arrested for not giving up her seat at the back of the bus to a white person. This event sparked the Montgomery boycotte which lead to a 300 day plus court case. -
Freedom riders
These people rode buses in to segregated towns in the south to challenge enforcement. this is when the first bus left but the government did nothing to enforce the segregated bus situation. -
March on Washington
the purpose was to fight against civil rights and for rights of colored people. This march had about 300,000 people involved and was done at the o the Lincoln memorial. -
Civil Rights Act of 1964
This ended the segregation based on race, religion, and sex and banned it in schools. This also ended separation in all public places -
Selma March
There wee three different marches that ended in Montgomery. These marches were used to push African American rights. -
Voting rights act
This act was to enforce the 14th amendment. Also this is the most effective piece of law in the civil rights movement -
Watts Riot
It started with a black man getting arrested for drunk driving but it then lead to a fight. This riot lasted 6 days and all started with the arrest. -
Black Power
It was used as a political slogan and also a racial slogan at first. It was a movement that first started with the term black power being used in speeches and political spotlights and was one of the biggest slogans in the civil rights movement. -
Counterculture
It began with the assassination of JFK and it picked up with the involvement in the Vietnam war. This movement was the movement to act different from the more main stream media. -
feminist movement
It was the political movement for women's right and to get women to a higher class. In the west it went through 3 waves all trying to get women to a higher class of life. -
Roe vs Wade
This case was on the issue of abortion and it was a land mark case. This case caused a national debate about abortion.
