  • NAACP

    The NAACP was founded in 1909 on February 12th their method was to use lawyers and courts to argue the education received by African-American students was inherently inferior since it sent the message African-American children weren't good enough.
  • Desegregation of the U.S Military

    In February 1948 President Truman created an important benchmark in the Quest for equality and Civil Rights for African Americans to fight along white troops.
  • Civil Rights Act of 1957

    The Civil Rights act to increase African-American voting in the south. The act created the Civil Rights commission and established a Civil Rights division in the U.S Justice department. The law gave the federal courts the power to register African American voters.
  • 23rd Amendment

    -The historical cause of it being possible at the time was because it gave the people who lived in Washington DC the right to vote for representatives or a president.
    -The effects is the Amendment was to ensure that the provisions of the 23rd Amendment are enforced and Washington DC has its electrical votes applied to elections.
  • Malcolm X

    He founded the organization of Afro American-Unity in 1964 to unify Blacks.
    The OAAU was designed to encompass all peoples of African origin in then west hemisphere as well as those in the African continent.
  • National Organization for Women-Betty Friedman

    The national organization for women(NOW) is an American feminists organization founded in 1966.
    NOW is to take action to bring women into full participation in the mainstream of American society now, exercising all privileges and responsibilities thereof in truly equal partnership with men.
  • Black Panther

    1.We want power to determine the distiny of our black community.
    2.We want full employment for our Black people.
    3.We want an end to robbery by the white man in our black community.
    4.We want decent housing, fit for shelter of human beings.
    5.We want all black men to be exempt from Military Service.
  • La Raza Unida

    Raza Unida party was established on January 17,1970 at a meeting of 300 Mexican Americans in Crystal City, TX by Jose Angel. The goal was to bring better, greater,econmic, social & political determination to Mexican Americans in Texas.
  • Edgewood vs. Kirby

    The Supreme court ruled kids do not have rights to education civil rights activist piled insults against the Supreme Court sued because poor kids weren't getting taught while rich kids were. Maldef won because the education system is supposed to be fair.
  • South Christian Leadership

    The SC African American Civil Right Organization closely associated with Martin Luther King had a large role in American Civil Rights was established in 1957 to coordinate the action of peaceful protest for African American Civil Rights throughout the South.
  • Lulac

    Oldest surviving Latino Civil Rights Organization in the U.S it established on February 17, 1929 in Corpus Christi. The purpose is to advance the economic condition,education attainment etc..
  • Organization of Afro-American Unity

    (OAAU) was a Pan-Africanist Organization Founded by Malcolm X in 1964 the purpose of the OAAU was to fight for the Human Rights of African Americans and promote Cooperation among Africans and people of African descent in the Americas.
  • 22nd Amendment

    Limits the president to only two 4 year terms in office. Before the 22nd Amendment, presidents TRADITIONALLY served a max of two terms, following the example set by George Washington. FDR broke this tradition as he served four terms. After FDR's death people realized this was bad for the country. This led to the 22nd Amendment.
