  • Brown v. Board of Education

    Brown v. Board of Education was a trial between Linda Brown and the Board of Education in the Supreme Court. It happened because of segregation in schools and was the begining of the end of segregation.
  • Montgomery Bus Boycotts

    It was a protest to stay off of the buses in Montgomery by black protestors. It was started because of Emmett Till's murder and effected by desegregating buses.
  • Murder of Emmett Till

    The murder of Emmett Till was when two men killed a 14-year-old boy who was accused of offending a white woman in Mississippi. It was caused by racism and affected the United States by pushing for a civil rights movement.
  • Little Rock Nine

    Nine black students were selected to break the segregation barrier by going to school at Little Rock Central School, involving the National Guard and President Eisenhower. It was caused by the Brown v. Board of Ed. trial and affected federalism and integration.
  • Sit Ins

    They were sit-ins where black people would sit at counters in restaurants in Greensboro until the restaurant would serve them. It was caused by people not serving them food and affected the restaurants by allowing black people to be served.
  • Freedom Riders

    It was a protest against bus facilities in the south to get rid of segregation at them. It was caused by segregation at bus stations and affected it by desegregating them.
