    Enlistment Enlisted in US Army at Evansville for three years; assigned to the 25th IVI. Army muster rolls describe him as about 5 feet 6 inches tall, light complexion, light hair and blue eyes. In the letter he said that that he would be suprised he they allowed him because he didnt look quite the strong and old enough.

    Articles Faced charges by violation of mutiny and violation of Article 9 of Articles of War in January. Which means he violated his rights to freedom. Also he violated one of the rules posted in the Articles of War.

    Drunk 8 dollars of his pay was stopped for being drunk. They stopped his pay because apparently his looked foolish and under the influence as the letter said. Back then when your drunk they usally didnt care unles you were about to go into battle.

    How they fought He felt like he was being treated unfairly. Because he was caught drinking once again and was fined 3 dollars. Back then that was almost half of his pay. So he was send home thoughts of unenlisting.

    The life Hes in healthy condition and is happy about finally reciving a letter. Because he was finally posted at camp. He had been fighting for 6 weeks straight he said in the letter. And was thankful for having no bullet wounds.

    Rules of enlistment Josheph Enlist in the army again hoping he wont be treated unfairly by the Majors again. He sent home a letter promising he would try to quit drinking so he could send them money home. Becuase they were very poor and needed some money.

    The hospitals Joseph was instated in the Evansville Hospital. But he left there 3 days after getting in without being told to on the letter he wrote for his wife to meet him at the court house later that day. Im thinking they got married.

    Scouting His brother had the chills and he was saying sorry about that. It was very busy at the time he said. He was scouting the rebels. And wasnt feeling the best he had non-stop ''cramps''.

    Camps He was marching all though the night and finally arried there early morning. To find out all the rebels are gone and had left there big guns. And left there little guns. Meanwhile the other soldiers in another unit were fighting a big fight right at the time.

    Nurse The pension file say the Saberton was shot in the arm. He wrote letters home but they werent in his handriting he was secretly having the nurse write home for him telling his wife that his was in pain and they may have to amputate his arm.
