End of College Years
In this time Chris began to cut ties with his parents after learning more about his dads second life with the other women. During his time at college he also spent much of his time writing for the school newspaper which he enjoyed. After he completed college he reconnected with his parents at graduation but only to tell them he was going to dissapear for awhile. -
Detrital Wash, Arizona
Chris stays in his car for the night where there were flash floods. over night his car got flooded and he drained the battery trying to get it started again so he abandoned it. He also burned all of his money and this could be where he took the next step into being a 'Supertramp' -
Orick, CA
Chris recieved a hitchhiking ticket but continued his ways. Eventually and old hippie couple picked him up and he camped with them for a few days, meanwhile his parents received the ticket that he got for hitchhiking. This left his parents even more confused and concerned. -
Topock, AZ
Chris gets a canoe and begins down the Colorado River. -
Mexico
After taking a canoe all the way down the Colorado river into mexico, Chris is disappointed to find out that it does not go all the way to the Gulf. Forced to turn back he has to go back through the border where they let him through all though he didn't have and documents with him -
Bullhead City
Chris arrives in Bullhead city after hitchhiking around for awhile and gets a job at the local McDonalds. Chris was actually very content with staying in Bullhead for awhile, in one of his letters it even said that he might settle down there for good. In this part of his adventure he might have learned that he had missed being around people and that he could be content with a simple life that still involved the rest of the society. -
On the road again
After spending awhile in Bullhead city he decided to take of again. Chris didn't really like being told what to do and at McDonalds he was forced to wear socks and was told he needed to shower. I believe that is the reason he decided to leave. -
Salton City
Chris sets up camp in Salton City for awhile. While hes there he meets an old guy named Ronald Franz. Ronald taught him some leather skills and liked Chris a lot. After awhile Chris left to go back to Carthage. -
Carthage
Chris goes back to work for Wayne who is now out of jail. He also begins to prepare for Alaska. -
Alaska
After meeting Jim and getting some last second supplies, Chris begins down the stampede trail. -
Magic Bus
After crossing the Teklanika River Chris discovers and old bus on the trail and decides to stay there for awhile. He begun to kill small game and lived off of that for awhile until he came across a moose. he manged to kill the moose but was unable to preserve any of the meet leftover. In his diary he said it was one of the biggest disasters of his life. -
Chris's Death
After spending more then 100 days in the wilderness Chris died. The last note that he left says: "I have had a happy life and thank the Lord. Goodbye and may God bless all!"
