    It is said that Noam Chomsky's father flees Russia in 1913 to avoid being conscripted into the Army. Adverse to the restrictive thinking of the Russian Empire, this would lead to a major influence on his son, Noam Chomsky's entire philosophy later on.

    Noam's Father worked in Baltimore while earning a college degree, then after met Elsie Simonofsky, Noam's mother, at a synagogue where they both worked in Philadelphia. Noam's father was big on teaching people free and independent thinking, and simply making the world better, which heavily influenced a young Noam. Last, It's no surprise that Noam's mother was a well-established activist during the 1930's, an attribute which Naom would take up and get into plenty of trouble through the years.

    On December 6th, 1928, Avram Noam Chomsky, an incredible linguist and philosopher was once, like many of us, a small babe. Born to immigrants, specifically an Ashkenazim Jewish family on East Oak Lane, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, during the end of the famous Roaring '20's era. He would soon grow to live through the coming wars.

    Noam's education began in an experimental elementary school in Philadelphia that promoted the free-thinking beliefs of his father. He later went up through the schools to Philadelphia Central High where he cultivated his activist roots in resistance to the regimented teachings, so different from the exploratory nature he learned from his father. However, there he would also learn and gain a life companion in the concept of anarchy.

    Noam studied at University of Pennsilvania at the young age of 16. Fun facts: He showed interest in learning Arabic. Linguist in training I think yes! And did you know Noam Chompsky was exempt from the draft thanks to his doctorate's degree? Funny enough since later, he was added to Richard Nixon's List of Enemies because of his anti-war activism during the Vietnam War.

    So the rest is more well-known. Noam Chomsky is known the most for his huge strides in linguistics, mainly the theory of Universal Grammar and a major player in what is known as the 'cognitive revolution'.This man has led and is still leading not only an interesting life, but is still a major influencer in the public eye concerning politics and philosophy today as he is still very much alive.
