Charles Darwin (12 Feb 1809-19 April 1882)

  • The Voyage

    The Voyage
In 1831 sparked by a desire for better understanding Charles Darwin set out on a voyage around the world; a voyage that he would become famous for and lead him down the path that would shake the very foundation of the human race. 27 Dec 1831 the H.M.S. Beagle departed Plimoth rock charting its first course. The fist stop was Santiago in the Cape Verde Islands, this was the first place that the crew was able to get off the ship, followed by Brazil, Botafogo, Patagonia, etc...
  • The Hypothesis

    The Hypothesis
24 November 1859 Charles Darwin officially published his research and findings on his voyage On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection. His theory declared that species survived through something called natural selection; adapting, and evolving to survive and keep up with the ever changing environment, promoting only the genetic line that was strong enough to survive and extinguishing the genetic lines that were not fit for the task, ensuring the strong survive. This is Darwinism.
  • The Understanding

    The Understanding
There is a general train of though out there that Charles Darwin said we come from monkeys. This is a misunderstanding. There were murmurs of man coming from ape theory before Darwin. Charles Darwin aimed to understand and explain how new species were created, how they adapted, and survived in a changing environment. His theory was not about the origin of life itself. Altho he knew that the origin of life question would have a natural explanation as-well
  • The Sum

    The Sum
Charles Darwin was not the one that said we come from monkeys but he did give us the understanding of natural selection and set the foundation for the understanding of genetics. He showed us that all living things will either mutate, evolve, or adapt to survive and if they don't the genetic line will cease to exist. He furthered the idea that we may have descended from apes. At first this was not an accepted thought but after 1940 Darwin's ideas were globally accepted a paradigm shift.
