  • First Navigation Act

    First Navigation Act
    It was aimed primarily at the Dutch, required all trade between England and the colonies to be carried in English or colonial vessels, resulting in the Anglo-Dutch War in 1652.
  • The English Bill of Rights

    The English Bill of Rights
    Was a British Law, passed by the Parliament of Great Britain in 1689 that declared the rights and liberties of the people and settling the succession in William III and Mary II following the Glorious Revolution of 1688
  • Censorship and Peter Zenger

    Peter Zenger accused New York's governor of corruption, and they charged Zenger of a crime and threw him and jail. This spread ideas of civic virtue.
  • The Great Awakening

    The time when people wanted a return to the strong faith of earlier days.
  • The Enlightenment

    Many colonists are influenced by the Enlightenment which came from Europe. It spread the idea that knowledge, reason, and science could improve society, in the 1750's
  • The French and Indian War

    The French and Indian War
    In the mid 1700's conflict broke between the Indians, French, and British. The British wanted to conquer the Ohio River Valley, and they did.
  • Treaty of Paris Signed

    The treaty of Paris ended the French and Indian War. France gave up all its territories in mainland North America, effectively ending any foreign military threat to the British colonies there.
  • Stamp Act

    When the Parliament passed the Stamp Act, tho colonists protested, and they reaped it. In return the British passed the Declaratory Act
  • The Boston Tea Party

    The Boston Tea Party
    Colonists dressed up as Native Americans and through boxes of tea into the harbor. This started the American Revolution.
  • Continental Congress

    This meeting wanted Americans to fight the British and there ideas and this started the spirit of independence
  • Lexington and Concord

    Lexington and Concord
    This is a popular story because this helps express our patriotism.
    This is what truly started the start of the battles.
  • The Deceleration of Independence

    This is the colonists declaring independence and show Britain we want our independence and freedom. This helped the U.S.A become a world super-power
