And The Slaves Were Practiced Through-Out The American Colonies Between The 17th & 18th Centuries. & The African American Helped Build The Economic Foundations Of The New Nations Coming. By The Mid 19th Century Americas Expansion Grew Abolitionist Movement To The North For Them To Provoke A Better Debate Over Slavery To Tear The Nation Apart For The bloody war.

    The Missouri Compromise Was An Effort By Congress To Defuse The Sectional & Political Rivalries Triggered By The Request Of Missouri Late In The 1819 For Admission As A State In Which Slavery Would Be Permitted. At The Time, The United States Contained Twenty-Two States, Evenly Divided Between Slave & Free.

    The Underground Railroad Was Neither Underground Nor A Railroad. It Got Its Name Because Its Activities Had To Be Carried Out As A Secret, Using Darkness Or Disguise, And Because Railway Terms Were Used By Those Involved With System To Describe How It Worked. Various Routes Were Lines, Stopping Places Were Called Stations, Those Who Did Along The Way They Conductors & Their Charges Were Known As Packages Or Freight.

    Sandford, Legal Case In Which U.S Supreme Court On March 6, 1857, Ruled ( 7-2 ) That A Slave ( Dred Scott ) Who Had Resided In A Free State & Territory ( Were Slavery Was Allowed ) Was Not Thereby Entitled To His Freedom That African Americans Were Not & Could Never Be Citizens Of The United States & That The Missouri Compromise ( 1820 ), Which Had Declared Free All Territories Of West Of Missouri & North Of Latitude 36-30, Was Unconstitutional.

    John Brown Was Born In Torrington, Connecticut, John Brown Belonged To A Devout Family With Extreme Anti-Slavery Views. He Had Been Married Twice And He Fathered Twenty Children. The Expanding Family Moved With Brown Throughout His Travels, Residing In Ohio Massachusetts, Pennsylvania & New York. Brown Failed At Several Business Ventures Before Declaring Bankruptcy In 1842.

    This First Started On November,6 1860 And So Abraham Lincoln Was The 16th President Of The United States He Was Competing With Stephen A. Douglas And John C. Breckinridge Of The Southern Democrats & John Bell Made The New Constitutional Union Party. Lincolns Victory Was The Signal For The Secession For The South Carolina ( Dec.20, 1860 ) So That State Was Followed Out To The Union By Six Other States- Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, And Texas.
