Career Plan Timeline

  • Graduate From High School

At this point, I have successfully graduated high school and now have the base foundation of education needed for my success. To get here, I worked hard and turned in all of my work and did all assignments to the best of my ability.
  • Apply for a Community College

I have at this point applied for 2 full years at Collin College (Community College). This will help my get my base college education credits that I need so I can get right into my major in a different college. This time will also help me get used to the pace and rigorous studying of college so I will know what to expect.
  • Graduate from Collin

I have now completed my main courses required for college and I am adapted to the expectation of college work. I am ready to apply for a school offering majors in meteorology/atmospheric sciences.
  • Get a Job in Town

I have applied for a job at Smoothie King and plan to stay here for about a year or so. This will not only give me a break from college, but it will also give me plenty of time needed to think over what college will best suit me and my career.
  • Apply for Penn State University

I have turned in my application to Penn State University meeting all of the requirements. I know I am ready for this because I have taken everything I need to succeed. I have gotten a base education in a previous college along with a 4.0 GPA at graduation from high school. I also have work experience in the field and the drive to succeed anywhere I go.
  • Accepted to Penn State University

About two weeks after my application was turned in, I received a letter from the head of Penn State University. I was accepted in to the college and given a $30,000 academic scholarship for all 4 years. This is most likely because of my record of a 4.0 GPA, top 3% in my class and a 1450 on the SAT.
  • Graduate From Penn State

I have completed my 4 years of college needed for my bachelor's degree in meteorology. I will now start looking for a job in meteorology.
  • Apply For a Local Job

I applied for a job as a weather broadcaster at a local radio station. This will help me get into the workforce again and get me involved in public speaking again.
  • Become a Storm Chaser working in the Field

After my year long job, I quit and continued to pursue my interests in meteorology by working out in the field and contacting huge weather stations of potential storms or sighted storms in the area. All footage is edited and showed on TV. I work with a small crew to capture up close video of tornadoes and large storms.
  • Fulfill My Life-Long Dream

After an entire year of working in the field passing my information around the nation, I have been promoted. The NWS has seen my work and is very excited and happy to have me work for them. I will have the same responsibilities, but now I work for a large organization and gain a lot more money. I have fulfilled my life-long dream. I am now a professional meteorologist under the NWS passing on my information for the betterment of mankind.
