    It gave the French people in Quebec the right to speak their own language, practice their own religion & follow their own customs.
  • Upper Canada & Lower Canada are divided

    Loyalists lived in Upper Canada, which is now Ontario. French Canadians remained in Lower Canada, which is now Quebec. The Month & Date are fake.

    Upper & Lower Canada worked together against invasion by U.S.
  • Rebellion led by a British Canadian against British rule

    William Mackenzie led the rebellion and was defeated by British government. Date is fake.

    Rebellion led by a French Canadian against British rule

    Louis Papineau organized a revolt in Lower Canada to establish the region as a separate country. The British defeated them.
  • Earl of Durham was sent to see why people were rebelling

    His suggestions:
    1. Canada should have more control of their own government.
    2. Colonies should be united. (Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, Prince Edward Island & New Brunswick were not included in the union. If Canada were completely united, the British were afraid they'd have a successful rebellion.)
  • British North Act is accepted

    This made Canada "one Dominion under the name of Canada". Canada wasn't completely independent, but a central government would run the country. Canadians could elect their own leaders. This is a "peaceful revolution". After this, Canada saw years of growth.
  • Parliamentary system was founded

    Laws states what the monarch can or can't do. The Canadian citizen who is appointed by the monarch living in Great Britain is the governor-general, the representative of the monarch. Although the monarch is the head of state, he/she doesn't make any political decisions. This is the job of prime minister, the head of the government.
  • Canadian Parliamentary democracy

    Canada's Parliament includes the House of Commons and the Senate. The House of Common is made up of elected representatives. The governor-general appoints the members of the Senate.
  • Canada became bilingual country
