  • Canada declares war on Germany

    On August 5th, 1914 Canada declares war on Germany on account of Canada being an ally of Britain and Britain declaring war on Germany the day before. (0)
  • The Canadian victory at vimy ridge

    The Canadian divisions took vimy ridge which was a very important part of Canadian history because it helped Canada become its own nation and helped the triple entente win the war. (+2)
  • Black soldiers involved in vimy ridge victory

    Black soldiers like Jeremiah Jones were involved in the allied victory at vimy ridge saying that black soldiers could fight, therefore possibly leading to more black enlistees. Proving black men had worth in a "White mans army". (+2)
  • The Canadian army became conscription based. (Military service act)

    Prime minister Borden passed the Military Service Act which made the military conscription for males between 20 and 45 because Canada needed reinforcements on the front line. (-1)
  • Prohibition is introduced to Canada.

    Prohibition is introduced to Canada in theory to get men to stop abusing women when they got drunk. (+1)
  • WW1 ends

    World war 1 officially ends with the armistice being signed a week later. (+1)
  • The Germans surrender

    The Germans surrender to the triple entente ultimately meaning the triple entente won the war, which showed that Canada could fight considering we weren't a military nation going into this conflict. (+2).
  • Winnipeg general strike

    After soldiers returned from the war living in Winnipeg was not great because workers pay went down while cost of living and hours went up. Thus the employees stroked for about a month in protest. (-1)
  • Canada becomes more independent

    Canada gains more independence at the 1923 imperial conference in London, England. (+2)
  • Women are allowed to run for senate

    In 1929 women gain the distinction of "People" and are thus were allowed to run for Canadian senate. (+2)
