In 1958 the band The Asteroids made "Shhhhh Blast Off" and "Don't Dig This Algebra" the first Rock' n Roll records made in Atlantic Canada. In 1959 the Beau-Marks made Canada's first international hit rock song "Clap Your Hands". -

In the 60s the influence of British bands like the Beatles gave rise to many Canadian Rick bands, like Little Caesar & the Consuls, Ritchie Knight & the Mid-Knights, and Jon & Lee & the Checkmates. Many rock clubs also emerged during this time period. -

In 1967 Canadian bands were feeling the influence of Psychedelic rock from America. In this time period many Canadian band began to explore drug experimentation. This time period also gave rise to Rock influences from non-western cultures, improvised live performances, and use of instrumental effects. In the 70s The Canadian record industry boomed in growth, and so did the use of public arenas, like sports arenas, for concerts. This lead to more famous Musicians viewing Canada as a viable place to find a large audience.
