British Acts

  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    The sugar act made it so products that hade sugar had to be brought to England and taxed before they could go to the colonies. This made colonists mad because they had to then pay more for items with sugar. The parliament reacted by repealing the tax later on.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    The Stamp Act made it so that all paper goods had to have a stamp bought and placed on them. Colonists refused to buy stamps for the paper goods. Parliament repealed the tax.
  • Quartering Act

    Quartering Act
    The Quartering Act made it so that colonists had to feed and let soldiers stay in their homes. Colonists reacted by ill-treating soldiers and refusing to let them in. The parliament made them let them in.
  • Declaratory Act

    Declaratory Act
    The Declaratory Act stated that parliament had authority to pass laws for the colonies. Colonies still resented against the British government. Parliament sent soldiers to enforce their acts that they passed.
  • Townshend Act

    Townshend Act
    The Townshend Act put a tax on 72 different items. This resulted in the Boston Massacre.
