There were over 7,000 fans at each game of the world series, so the MLB knew that they could start doing it every year and have a success, and it continues to today as one of the most watched sporting events in America

Boston Americans change name

The Boston Americans change their name to the Boston Red Sox. This would be the name of the franchise for over a hundred years as this is what they're called today.

Fenway Park opened

Fenway Park opened for the 1912 season. This would be their staduim as it's still used today. It is the oldest ballpark that is still used, and it is known as "America's Most Beloved Ballpark"

Red Sox win World Series

Red Sox win their 2nd world series in extra innings. This is their first world series win as the Red Sox, and they won game in game 8 at Fenway Park.

Red Sox acquire Babe Ruth

Babe Ruth made his major league debut on this day. He would pitch a no hitter in his rookie year, and he would lead the Sox to much success for years to follow.

Sox lose the first game then win 4 in a row for their 3rd world series win. They would win over 100 games and be a dominant team for the next couple years.

The season was cut short because of World War I, but they beat the Cubs in 6 games. The Red Sox would not another world series until 2004.

Ruth Sold to the Yankees

Babe Ruth was sold to the Yanks to pay for the broadway play 'No, No, Nanette' Ruth a .308 hitter and 49 homeruns with the Sox would be sold and the Sox would not win the World Series again until 2004. This drought was known as "the curse of the Bambino"

Sox break the Curse

The Red Sox win their first world seires in 86 years. The Sox beat the Yankees in the ALCS going down 3 games to nothing, they come back and win 4 games in a row and then beat the Cardinals in the World Series in 4 games. The curse was broken and things would look up for Sox fans.

Francona steps down as manager of the Red Sox in Octover of 2011 after coaching for 7 years. Francona would admit that players were drinking and playing video games in the club house. Bobby Valentine took over as manager leading to a dissapointing 2012 season.
