In these chapters, the main character, Kylie Galen is introduced. Her father has just left her and her mother. Kylie doesn't like her mother, who has a drinking problem. Kylie goes out to a party and they get caught by the police. Her mother gets mad and sends her to a summer camp for kids with troubles. Kylie and a few other campers are taken with Holiday. Holiday then explains how each camper is a supernatural. Kylie refuses to believe it. Holiday then brings in Perry, a shapeshifter, who turns into a unicorn before Kylie's eyes. Kylie also has to explain to the whole camp how Holiday and her don't know what type of supernatural she is. The visiting vampire was Della's cousin named Chan. He is apart of a group of rouge vampires called the Blood Brothers. Also Perry shapeshifts into a kitten and proves to Kylie that he is a pervert. Kylie also has a her gift, which is talking to ghosts, suddently have a "spaz attack" and she faints. Derek who is half fairy get her name for meet your campmates hour. And he gives blood to another vampire to get her name. (see next event) -

Derek and Kylie almost kiss and she finds out her can control emotions and talk to animals. She gets mad at him thinking he takes advantage of his gift. She thinks she has a brain tumor but Helen a fairy who can heal says she doesn't. Kylie gets talked to by the FRU who is basically the FBI for supernaturals.Sara finds out she isn't pregnant. The werewolf Lucas talks to Kylie and then the werewolf Fredricka gets really mad at Kylie for "flirting". Also Trey comes and visits Kylie and he almost convinces her to have sex with him. Kylie's mom answers and they weren't born at midnight. Parent night comes and her dad ditches out on Kylie and she doesn't talk to him for weeks. Lucas gets Kylie as the meet your campmates hour. And they ended up kissing. Trey catches them. She has a night terror about her ghost and she goes and talks to Holiday about it. Holiday and Brunette are looking for Lucas because they believe he is killing local zoo animals. Kylie and Derek go to the zoo themselves and Derek talks to the animals to see what's been going on. They are ambushed by the Blood Brothers and everybody gets them off. And Kylie realizes her gift is bigger and better.
