    Germany's Invasion of Poland
    Germany invaded Poland on September 1st 1939. They invaded Poland because Hitler wanted to give Germany more land. Poland remained under Germany's control until 1945.

    Dunkirk

    The allies were trapped by the sea and the Germans on Dunkirk in France. Hundreds of fishing boats, lifeboats, ferries, and yachts raced to Dunkirk to save the soilders. It ended up saving more than 338,000.
  • Pearl Harbor

    Pearl Harbor
    Japan made a surprise attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7th 1941. America had imposed sanctions and embargoes against Japan because of China. 2,400 Americans died in the attack including civilians.

    D-Day (Normandy Invasion-1944)

    American, British, and Canadian forces landed on five beaches of the Normandy region in France. To liberate France and defeat Germany. The Normandy landings have been called "The Beginning of The End of the War".

    VE Day
    It's the day when Germany surrenders. The German soldiers didn't want to be taken prisoner by the Soviets from Russia. It ended in victory and the war was over in Europe.

    Dropping of The Atomic Bomb
    On August 6th 1945, an American bomber named Enola Gay dropped a 5-ton bomb over the Japanese city of Hiroshima. The American president asked Japan to surrender, but they refused so the U.S dropped a second bomb three days later on Nagasaki. It killed 80,000 people died instantly, 10's of 1000's more would later die of radiation exposure.
