  • Battle of Dunkirk

    The Battle of Dunkirk took place on 5/23/1940 to 6/4/1940. It was fought between the allies and Nazi Germany at the French port of Dunkirk. It was more of an evacuation of troops on the allies part, the Germans won but the allies also won by getting there men out.

  • Battle of Moscow

    It was a German attempt to take control of Moscow. This was part of Hitler's Operation Barbarossa but was also the end of it. It took place from 9/30/1941 to 4/20/1942. Over 1.5 million lost. The USSR won.

  • Pearl Harbor

    It was a surprise attack by the Japanese on American ships in Hawaii. It only lasted a few hours but the effects were devastating. Almost all of our ships were destroyed, due to the Japanese being told to crash into our ships when they run out of fuel or are shot down.Over 2,000 American troops died, leading us to get involved into the war.

  • Battle of Midway

    The battle of Midway was a major naval battle in the Pacific Theater. It started on 6/4/1942 and ended on 6/7/1942. It was between the United States and Japan. The United states won. But over 3,000 lives were lost.

  • Battle of Stalingrad

    It was a battle between Germany and its allies against the Soviets, it lasted from 8/23/1942 to 2/2/1943. It was a failed attempt to take the Russian city of Stalingrad. Over 1.2 million people died during this battle.

  • Battles of Kursk

    It was a major Eastern front battle during WWII, it involved Germany and the USSR. It quickly became the largest battle of tanks ever in history. It lasted over a month and the soviets won. But with over 700,000 soviet men killed and 200,000 germans killed. And each tank and aircraft units took a heavy toll as well. It lasted from 7/5/1943 to 8/23/1943. The USSR won.

  • Battle of Normandy

    Also called D-day or Death day, and Operation Overlord. This was a campaign by the allies to liberate western europe from German control. It involved storming beaches and rushing the enemy. Germany is defending against, the United States, United Kingdom, and Canada. Over 80,000 lives were lost. It started on 6/6/1944 and ended on 8/30/1944. The Allies won.

  • Battle of Bugle

    This was a German surprise attack against, US,French,Britain, and Canadian troops. Fought between Belgium and Luxembourg, near the western front. Started on 12/16/1944 to 1/25/1945. Over 170,00 lives were lost. The Allies won.

  • Battle of Iwo Jima

    This battle was fought between the United States and Japan. US marines and the navy landed on the island of Iwo Jima in hopes of capturing it, which we did. This is also were the famous picture of the US troops lifting the American flag was taken at. It started on 2/19/1945 and ended on 3/26/1945. Over 6,000 people died.

  • Battle of Berlin

    The Battle of Berlin was one of the last major offensives in the war. The Soviets invaded Berlin the capital of Germany. Berlin fell into soviet control but at a cost, over 80,000 people were lost. It started from 4/16/1945 to 5/2/1945
