    France lost all their mainland to Britain after there loss in the french and Indian war.
  • Proclamation line

    King George the 3rd prohibited settlers from crossing west over the Appalachian mountains. Colonist were not very happy about this
  • Sugar act

    Colonial merchants required to pay a tax of 6 pence per gallon on the importion of molasses.

    There was a tax on all paper documents. The colonies did not like this and they resorted to mob violence to intimidate stamp collectors.

    This act required the colonies to let the soldiers live in the house of colonist. Colonist were not happy about sharing their house.

    imposed duties on glass,lead,paints,paper,and tea imported to the colonies.

    red coats came to support a sentry who was being pressed by a mob. colonists were screaming and insulting the British. then the red coats shot. they killed 5 people and injured 6.

    Virginia house of Burgess proposed that each colonial legislature appoint a standing committee for inter colonial correspondence.

    It was designed to prop up the east India company which was floundering financially and burdened with 18 million pounds of unsold tea. this tea was to be shipped directly to the colonies and sold at bargain price.

    patriots dressed up as Indians.they went on to a ship holding tea and they threw the tea overboard. it was there way to say that it was unfair. they were protesting.

    this battle kicked off the revolutionary war. Tensions had been building for years between the colonies. hundreds of British soldiers marched from Boston to concord.

    British defeated the Americans. Despite there loss the inexperienced colonial forces inflicted significant casualties against the enemy. The battle provided them with a confidence boost.

    It was the very first pamphlet to advocate American independence. After writing the crisis papers during the American Revolution, Paine returned to Europe and and offered his defense of the French Revolution.

    This announced that the thirteen original colonies would be separated from Great Britain. They were finally free.

    Washington crossed the river hoping to surprise a hessian force celebrating Christmas.the victory was not particularly signifigant.

    The 2 battles of Saratoaga were a turning point. The patriots had won. The American victory convinced the french to help out. The french thought the Americans might have a chance of winning.
  • Battle of York town

    Battle of York town
    this is the most important battle of the war. Washington realized it was time to act. He ordered Marquis De Lafayette and an American army of 5,000 troops to block Cornwallis's escape from Yorktown. The victory for the patriots at Yorktown ended the fighting in the colonies.
