    The British set up the first penal colony in Botany Bay because there wasn't enough space in England.This colony was called NSW
  • People moved across Australia

    People moved across Australia
    Not everyone stayed in Sydney. They moved into Van Diemen's land and people thought of moving to the other side of Australia so no one else can claim the land
  • New Hollands name was changed

    A british settlement of free settlers established on the swan river and then two years later the British government officially claimed New Holland Western Australia as its limits were set at West Cape Howe
  • South Australia became A colony

    In 1836 South Australia became their own free colony. It took southern parts of NSW. Other islands were included.
  • Expanding on the Coastal parts of Australia

    European settlers have slowly been expanding to coastal parts of Australia since the 1820s. In 1847 the colony of Northern Australia was created. Unfortunately after six months the colony failed and became NSW after a year.
  • Victoria was declared a colony

    In 1851 The area became Victoria when it got separated from NSW. This border was mostly along the murray river.
