The arrival of the First Fleet
The first fleet arrived on Australia on the 26th of January 1788 and that day is now called Australia Day. The first fleet contained 11 ships and the 11 ships brought the convicts to Australia. The first fleet didn't just bring convicts and guards, the first fleet also brought free settlers. The first fleet was guided by Captain James Cook.
