    Columbus led an expedition with 3 ships and started in Palos, Spain. On October 11, 1492, he came by the Carribean Islands. His original intentions were to look for a route to Asia that was faster and made more money. He went in the opposite direction of most explorers and underestimated the size of the earth and came along to the Americas. His patrons were Queen Isabella and King Ferninand.

    African Slave Trade
    Black slaves were transported to Spanish colonies with the permission of Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand. At first, all Africans had to come from Portugal or Spain or had to be baptized in Africa. They sold over 1,200 slaves.

    The Aztec thought that Cortés was a god because the desccription of how the God would come down again matched his appearence. However, he converted many natives, and if they didn't bow down or respect them with high standards they would be killed or enslaved.

    Pizarro Conquers the Incan Empire
    Pizarro and his men conquered the Incas because of their gold, silver, and land. He killed the leader Atahualpa, and he turned most Incan's into his slaves shortly after.

    As the English arrived, they looked for gold, new types of foods and spices, and wanted to claim land for England. In general, most people wanted to live a decent life in Jamestown because of restrictions in England.

    About 100 English people sailed to the New World on the Mayflower. The people came to the Americas because of religious views. After two months of sailing, they reached Massachusetts and set up a colony there.
  • French and Indian War Ended

    French and Indian War Ended
    The war had finally ended after 7 years of fighting. The cause of the fighting was over land in the Americas. King George the third made a proclamation that the expansion of colonies did not pass the Blue Ridge Mountains.
