    Vedic Period

    The first evidence of Hinduism was in Indus Valley. Archaeologist have found many of female figures believed to be worshipped by the believers of Hinduism. (textbook pg 65)
  • 1200 BCE

    Vedas

    Vedas was a oral tradition that was wrote down much later. The earliest Vedas were called "books of knowledge. (textbook pg 67)
  • Period: 600 BCE to 400 BCE

    Upanishadic Period

    Upanishads were written during this time and have became fundamental text for Hinduism. (textbook pg 69)
  • Period: 400 BCE to 600

    Classical Period

    In 400 B.C.E. the Aryans finally settled into towns and built themselves permanent homes and temples for their gods. (pgs 69-71)
  • Period: 600 to

    Deviotional Period

    This period is characterized by three developments: the rise of devotional movements, especially those devoted to Shiva, Vishnu, and the Goddess; Tantrism; and the rise ofHindu reform movements.
    Devotion to one's chosen god is the main way of being Hindu. (pgs 71-73)
