    Andrew Jackson was born on March 15,1767 in the Waxhaws region between North Carolina and South Carolina. His mother was Elizabeth Jackson and his father was Andrew Jackson (who had died 3 weeks after his birth).
  • The Battle of the Horseshoe Bend

    The Battle of the Horseshoe Bend
    The Battle of the Horseshoe Bend was fought during the war of 1812. It was between the Americans,the American Indians and the British.This was a major battle of Creek war and Andrew Jackson was in charge.They wanted Mississippi Territory for American settlement. Jackson commanded an army of Tennessee militiamen that had helped them fight against Tecumseh's tribes.

    The Battle of New Orleans was a major battle during the war of 1812. During that time Andrew Jackson was in charge and commanded the American Army to attack the invading British Army. The American Army had won even though they were outnumbered. The battle of New Orleans was the last battle of the war and had ended on January 26,1815.
  • Worcester v. Georgia

    Worcester v. Georgia
    In 1820-1830 Georgia created a campaign to remove the Cherokee Indians(Samuel Worcester included) that has territory within the borders of Georgia, North Carolina, Alabama, and Tennessee. The Indians thought that was unfair and Georgia did not have the authority to do that. Then this case went to court, and in the end the court said it was unconstitutional and Georgia couldn't do that, so the Indians stayed.

    The Election of 1824 was when Andrew Jackson, Henry Clay, John Quincy Adams and William H. Crawford competed to become president. Since no president had one the electoral vote, so the vote went to the House of Representatives. The House had picked the top 3 who were Andrew Jackson, John Adams and William Crawford. In the end John Adams won but Jackson thought it was unfair because Clay used his position as Speaker of the House to persuade representatives to vote for Adams.

    The Election of 1828 was a re-match between Andrew Jackson and John Quincy Adams. This time, the nominations were not made by the House of Representatives. Jackson was the Democratic party while Adams was the national Republican. Andrew Jackson had won more electoral votes and popular votes over Adams.Jackson became the 7th president of the U.S.A.

    Indian Removal Act
    The Indian Removal Act was signed into law by President Andrew Jackson(Jackson felt like after Georgia's rights he did not have enough power).. This gave the president power to move Native Americans west of the Mississippi. Many Indians did not like this (especially Cherokee Indians ) and tried to resist it but failed and numerous amount of people died. This was also known as the Trail of Tears.

    In 1828 a Tariff bill was passed and it was the highest tax on imports. This was designed to protect U.S. industry by increasing tariffs on goods from Europe. This hurt the southern planters and they believed in states rights so South Carolina passed the Nullification Act. South Carolina threatened to withdraw if the tariff was removed.
    So Henry Clay made a compromise that lowered the tariff
    but gave the president power to use force if a state threatened to be removed.

    During this time Andrew Jackson was president, and he thought that the 2nd national bank of the U.S. was too powerful. The Bank was created by federalist Alexander Hamilton. The purpose of the bank was to regulate economic policies, but it had also cut back on loans which hurt farmers.Nicholas Biddle (the president of the bank) had used the national bank for their own profit.So in the end Andrew Jackson had vetoed the bank and helped many people.
