    Ashoka Takes Control of the Mauryan Empire

    In 270 B.C. Candragupta's son Ashoka took control of the Mauryan Empire. In that time period they had control of cities and provinces all the way to the Deccan Plateau. The empire was well organized, many strong workers, a deadly army, and spies to see what was going on in the empire.

    Chandragupta Maurya and the Mauryan Empire

    In 320 B.C, a soilder by the name of Chandragupta Maurya seized control of India. He created the Mauryan Empire. Maurya lived in a life of wealth but then became a monk becoming sick of wealthiness. The Mauryan Empre was one of the first true empires of India.

    The Gupta Empire

    In 520 A.D. the Gupta Empire had ended. During their time they had multiple achievements in science. Math also expanded with the invention of the first nine digits.

    The Persian Empire Begins

    In 550 B.C. the Persian Empire began. Cyrus II was the founder of Persia. At the height of the Persian Empire they had control over 20 provinces.

    The Aryans

    In 1500 B.C. people known as the "Aryans" who spoke sanskrit invaded the Indus River Valley. While in the valley they continued their nomadic way of life. They then created towns and farms where they farmed or traded. After they left behind artifacts such as pottery, jewelery, or ruins from their buildings. The also had books called Vedas
  • The Harrappan Civilization Disappears

    In 1700 B.C. For an unknown reason the Harrappan Civilization disappeared. Most archaeologists believe that the civilization was wiped out due to natural disaster.
  • The Mauryan Empire Falls

    In the year 185 B.C. Ashoka's time of ruling was over. Leaders after Ashoka weren't as strong as he was. So the empire fell. And wars happened. Finally in 320 A.D. the Guptas took control over India.
  • The Civilization Begins! 1000 years later...

    Even though people started settling in the valley in 3500 B.C. the civilization itself didn't start until 2500 B.C. At the center there are cotton workers that keep the civilization going and growing.
  • Major Cities

    Two cities have been uncovered by archaeologists. Harappa and Mohenjo-Daro. These places were home to 1000's of people and advanced architectual buildings such as baths.
  • Indus River Vallley Settlers

    In 3500 B.C. people began moving into the Indus River Valley.
