In 1543 a Chinese ship landed on Japanese shores with all sorts of materials fro Firearms to Silk Gold And Wool. They traded with the Portuguese until 1641 when the Japanese government ban Christianity. -

The arrival of Commodore Perry to Japan
In 1853 on the 8th of July Commodore Matthew Perry (Who was in the Navy) left America with 4 other boats and sailed to Japan. He made them open up to trade with them. -
