    Mayflower Compact
    The Mayflower Compact was signed by 41 English colonists aboard the Mayflower. It was written to establish the government for the New World. It was the first written framework for the government.
  • Bacon's Rebellion

    This was a rebellion by armed Virginia settlers led by Nathaniel Bacon. They were rebelling against the rule of Governer William Berkeley.

    In Salem, Massachusetts 1692 is where 26 women were hung for suspected of witch craft.
  • Trial of John Peter Zenger

    Trial of John Peter Zenger
    This trial led the the First Amendment of the American Constitiution. It was held because John Peter Zenger published the New York Weekly Journal accusing the govenment of rigging elections and letting the French enemy explore New York Harbor.

    Also known as the Seven Years War. The war was between the British American and New France. It finally ended with the Treaty of Paris.

    This was issued by King George III following Great Britian's acquisition of French territory in North America after the end of the French and Indian War.

    The new tax was imposed on all American colonists and required them to pay a tax on every piece of printed paper they used. The money collected by the Stamp Act was to be used to help pay the costs of defending and protecting the American frontier near the Appalachian Mountains.

    This act was created to help the East India Company from bankruptcy after the Boston Tea Party.

    This led to the Tea Act. Samuel Adams and the Sons of Liberty boarded three ships in the Boston harbor and threw 342 chests of tea overboard.

    The first Continental Congress met in Carpenter's Hall in Philadelphia, from September 5, to October 26, 1774. All of the colonies except Georgia sent delegates.
