    End of French and Indian War
    The French and Indian war started because the British and its colonies and the French fought over the Fertile Ohio River Valley. The British then declared war against France. The British suffered a series of defeats by the French. At the end of this war the British made a comeback and won the French and Indian war. This ended with the Treaty of Paris in 1763

    The Stamp Act was passed by the British Parliament in 1765. The new tax was imposed on all American colonists and required them to pay a tax on printed material. Also, they taxed legal documents, newspapers, books, and other publications. The Sons of Liberty opposed against this.

    The Sons of Liberty was an organization of dissendents that originated in the North American colonies. The secret society was formed to protect the rights of the colonists and to fight againt the abuse of the British government. The Sons of Liberty was an underground organization of colonists formed in opposition to the Stamp Act and other British laws and taxes.

    The Declaratory Act is when the British Parliament accompanied the repeal of the Stamp Act. This act held that Parliament had the right to have, full power and authority to make laws for the colonies and people of America.
  • Townshend Acts

    Townshend Acts
    A series of acts passed by the Parliament of Great Britain relating to the British Colonies in North America. These acts imposed duties on glass, lead, paints, paper, and tea that was imported in the colonies. Charles Townshend hoped that these acts would clear imperial expenses. But, many Americans viewed this taxation as an abuse of power, which resulted in the passge of agreements to limit imports in Britain.

    A group of colonists hurled snowballs and rocks at British soldiers who were guarding the Customs House. The soldiers became nervous and fired into the crowd, killing five colonists. Under the leadership of Samuel Adams, Patriots named this, The Boston Massacre.

    One night in December Samuel Adams and the Sons of Liberty boarded three ships in the Boston harbor with tea and dumped the tea into the harbor. The tea boycott worsened financial problems for the already struggling British East India Company. To help company and encourage the colonists to pay this tax. Parliament passed a law allowing the company to sell directtly to the colonists. This made their tea cheaper than the smuggled tea, even with tax.

    The Intolerable Acts were named by American Patriots'. This was a series of punutive laws passed by the British Parliament after the Boston Tea Party. These laws were meant to punish the Massachusettes colonists for their rebellion in throwing a large tea shipment into the Boston harbor.

    During the Battle of Lexington and Concord tensions built up for many years between the 13 American colonies and the British authorities. Hundreds of British troops marched from Boston to nearby Concord.The Lexington town started off the fighting.The British then were hastily retreating under intense fire. After this has happened many more battles were followed after the Battle of Lexington and Concord.
  • Battle of Bunker Hill

    Battle of Bunker Hill
    On June 13, 1775, the leaders of the colonial forces blocking Boston learned that the British generals were planning to send troops out from the city to occupy the unoccupied hills surrounding the city. In response, 1,200 colonial troops were sent under William Precott's command. When the British alerted, they mounted an attack against them. The third assault captured the postions. The British resulted in victory.
