  • Start of French and Indian War

     Start of French and Indian War
    This war pitted the colonies of Great Britain against the French. The war was fought over who would gain control of North America. It lasted from 1754 to 1763. It took place across a large scale of North America. The colonies ultimately defeated the French/Indians and won the war. I chose this event as it is one of the earliest events in Americas history.
  • Paris Peace Treaty

    Paris Peace Treaty
    The Paris Peace Treaty was signed by Great Britain, France and Spain. It marked the end of the French and Indian War, and confirmed that the colonies of North America were under the control of Great Britain and not France. The signing occurred in Paris, France. I chose this event as it marks the end of the first major war in North America.
  • The Sugar Act

    The Sugar Act
    The sugar act was passed in 1764 and was one of the first acts to upset colonists about Britain's control over them. The sugar act imposed taxes on molasses, sugar, etc. I chose this event as it was the beginning of the acts that Britain would soon be putting on the colonies
  • The Currency Act

    The Currency Act
    The Currency Act regulated paper money that was issued by the colonies. This caused further discontent with the British as they were ruling over the colonies even harder now. I chose this as it was leading up to the Revolutionary War.
  • The Quartering Act

    The Quartering Act
    The colonists were taxed even further with the quartering act, the British described the act as "Tax for the room and board of protection of British soldiers". The colonists also had to house British soldiers in their homes. When this act was implied the discontent in the colonies grew even further as colonists were pretty much fed up with British rule. I chose this event as it was one of the bigger acts that made the colonists tired of British rule.
  • Stamp Act of 1765

    Stamp Act of 1765
    The Stamp Act of 1765 imposed a direct tax on colonists that put sales tax on newspapers and legal documents in the colonies. The colonists grew even more upset with this tax and even refused to pay it. I chose this event as it was one of the final straws for the American colonists and led up to the Revolutionary War.

    Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre was an incident in which British soldiers shot and killed 5 people while under attack by a mob. The event was heavily publicized by Paul Revere and Samuel Adams. This event occurred in Boston. I chose this event as it was one if the major events that led to discontent with Britain in the colonies.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    The Boston Tea Party was a violent protest by American colonists against the British rule on America. The colonists boarded 3 British ships and dumped over 15,000 pounds of tea into the Boston harbor. Paul Revere was a major person involved in this event. I chose this event because it was one of the bigger events leading up to the Revolutionary War.
  • Declaration Of Independence

    Declaration Of Independence
    The Declaration Of Independence marked the beginning of the Revolutionary war and the beginning of American Independence from Great Britain, some major people involved in this were George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin. and John Adams. The Declaration outlined basic rights given to American citizens. I chose this event because it was the beginning of American Independence.
  • Valley Forge

    Valley Forge
    Valley Forge was the third of eight major encampments in the Continental Army's main body. It was commanded by George Washington. During the time America was suffering a very bad winter and Valley Forge was running out of supplies. I chose this because it is one of the more popularly known events in the Revolutionary War.
  • Articles Of Confederation

    Articles Of Confederation
    The Articles Of Confederation served as an agreement between the thirteen colonies. The articles served as the first Constitution of the US. They were written by Benjamin Franklin and Silas Deane. They outlined basic rules of American citizens. I chose this as it was a monumental moment in America becoming a country.
  • Treaty Of Paris

    Treaty Of Paris
    The Treaty Of Paris formally ended the Revolutionary War and Britain formally recognized America as an independent nation. The signing occurred in Paris, France. I chose this event as it truly marked when America gained it's independence and became it's own nation.

    The US constitution was written as the original Articles Of Confederation were not very strong. The Constitution was written to be a better, stronger version of the Articles. I chose this event as it was an important document that was made to show basic rules and rights to American citizens.
  • James Madison is inaugurated President of the US

    James Madison is inaugurated President of the US
    The inauguration of James Madison as President was held in the chamber of the house of representatives at the US capitol in Washington DC. I chose this as it leads into how the war of 1812 plays out.
  • America declares war on Great Britain

    America declares war on Great Britain
    The War of 1812 began after many reports of US sailors were being imprisoned by the British and reports of US ships being fired upon by British ships. I chose this as is marks the second most important war in America's early history.
  • Riots break out over announcement of War Of 1812

    Riots break out over announcement of War Of 1812
    Riots occurred in Baltimore after the announcement of war between Britain and America. I chose this as it was one of the first events that occurred in the war of 1812.
  • US troops burn York

    US troops burn York
    US troops captured and burned the city of York. This happened months before the British would retaliate and burn down Washington DC. I chose this event as it led to the destruction of Washington DC later on in the war.

    British burn Washington DC in retaliation
    The British burned Washington DC in retaliation of the burning of York. President Madison fled the capitol. The White House was pretty much completely destroyed by fire along with other parts of the city. I chose this because it was a low point in the war of 1812 and was a very horrible thing that the British did.
  • Battle of New Orleans

    Battle of New Orleans
    The battle of New Orleans was fought between British troops and American forces led by Andrew Jackson. Although the Americans were outnumbered two to one, they won against the British forces, this was one of the final battles of the war of 1812, and determined the end of the war. I chose this event because it was the deciding point of who won the War Of 1812.

    In February of 1815, President Madison declared the war between Britain and America officially over. The peace treaty between the two nations was ratified which marked the end of the second war between Britain and America. I chose this event because it marks the end of the second war between America and Britain.
