    Concept of "Affective Computing"
Picard begins to form the concept of “affective computing” and put all of her information evidence she’d collected during her research together in order to begin finding and making new discoveries on technology and emotional intelligence

  • Picard's Book

    Picard's Book
Several months after signing a publishing contract Picard completed a book that shared the same title as her introductory paper. Affective computing was beginning to introduce the world to her ideas and launched a brand new branch of artificial intelligence and computer science. She was beginning to get her research out there and expand this idea of technology and advancing emotional intelligence with it.
  • Galvactivator

    Galvactivator
The Galvactivator was invented and then there was biofeedback from wearable was used in computer game that measured the player’s shock. It is a glove that is able to sense one’s skin conductivity. When one’s skin conductivity increases then there is a higher level of physiological arousal which would make the glove glow brighter.
  • Clippy

    Clippy
Clippy was part of Microsoft and would randomly offer to help with the task at hand but most people did not like clippy because it was too helpful and was eventually taken away.
  • GPU

    GPU
Graphics processing units, known as GPUs increased in availability and dropped in cost and were processors that were able to speed up network training and helped improve algorithms used for pattern recognition. You can find them in places such as embedded systems, phones, personal computers, workstations, and game consoles.
  • iCalm

    iCalm
iCalm wristband was developed and is a low cost, low power, wireless device that was able to track changes in autonomic processes such as electrodermal activity and heart rate.
  • Affectiva

    Affectiva
Affectiva is an emotion measurement technology company that came out of MIT's Media Lab and it has developed software to recognize human emotions based on facial cues or physiological responses.
  • EPU

    EPU
EPU which is an emotion processing unit are used to give people the impression that there is emotion in the machines and devices that we are using.

  • Emotient

    Emotient
Apple bought Emotient and it gathered one hundred thousand facial images a day and has become a big part of the advances in emotional intelligence. It is a company founded in 2008 and uses artificial intelligence technology to read people's emotions by way of reading facial expressions.

  • Jibo

    Jibo
The first social robot of the home was called Jibo and it was first shipped out in 2016. The website says, "Jibo is technology you can relate to. Advanced facial and voice recognition technology allow this personal bot to learn up to 16 different people, helping him create personalized experiences with each interaction." It is the first social robot for the home who looks, listens and learns. Artificially intelligent, authentically charming is how it is advertised.

  • Future

    Future
I think that in the future our phones will be able to be more than just a phone. I think we will be able to personalize it so that it isn't just a device but it will be more personal and will be able to detect our feelings and emotions through facial expressions, voice, and what we do. I think that this will be invented and advanced in the next couple of decades because our devices and phones are always being upgraded and we can even unlock our phone screen with our faces now.
  • Future

    Future
I think we will have a device or a machine that will be able to work similar to the guy in big hero 6. I think that we will have a robot that will be able to have conversation with us and can detect how we feel. It will be capable of having conversations and doing minor activities including walking and possibly cleaning. I think that we have the logical knowledge to do it but by 2100 we will have improved on the emotional intelligence aspect of technology.
