  • King Louis XVI

    After bad harvest and costly wars, King Louis XVI is forced to convene the Estates General assembly in order to raise taxes
  • Tennis Court oath

    Tennis court oath. Nat. assembly resolves not to disband until it has written a constitution
  • Bastille stormed

    Bastille was stormed and taken by a Paris mob
  • Nobles

    Nobles in National assembly renounce feudal rights; Jacobin club formed
  • Declaration of the Rights of Men

    The declaration of the rights of men is what really creates a base for the revolution. Because what this did was give the people of France more rights and freedoms to make France better and more equal.
  • King Louis

    King Louis brought from Versallies to Tuileries palace in Paris
  • King flees

    King flees to Austria, is caught in Varennes
  • National convection

    This was when the national convection declared France to be a Republic
  • National convection condemns and executes the King

    This is when the decision was made that the king was no longer any use.They thought that he was not loyal to the people and that he was running away from France and needed to be executed. This was also part of the plan to start over and make France a better country.
  • Counter Revolution

    Counter- revolution revolt in the Vendee region begins
  • Reign of Terror

    Reign of terror by committee of public safety begins
  • Price Controls

    Price controls put into place by the government, dechristianization, adminstrative reform
  • Thermidor

    In the month of the "Thermidor", Robespierre is executed; reign of terror ends
  • Churches

    The churches reopened because they were no longer fearful of the Republic
  • New Constitution

    A new constitution is adopted and a new government called the directory
  • Government Takeover

    Coup d'etat removes royalist from directory
  • Napoleon

    Napoleon's coup d'etat abolishes Directory and establishes Consulate government; end of French Revolution
