    Assasination of Benigno Aquino Jr.
    After being exiled from the Philippines for 3 years, Benigno Aquino Jr., a major leader of the opposition to the then-dictator Ferdinand Marcos, was fatally shot at Manila International Airport. This turned the small anti-Marcos cause into a national issue.

    Marcos Regime is Uprooted, Corazon Aquino Becomes President.
    Pressured into holding a snap election, Marcos defeats Benigno Aquino Jr.'s widow, Corazon Aquino to win president in a fraudulent and unfair attempt to stay in power. After the People Power Revolution, where an estimated 3 million Filipinos gathered in Epifanio delos Santos Avenue to protest the election, Marcos flees to Hawaii, and Corazon Aquino is declared president.

    The United States Ends its Military Presence in The Philippines
    After the Filipino senate denied that the U.S. a ten year renewal on their military bases in the Philippines, the U.S. finally gave control of Clark Air Base and Subic Bay Naval Base to the Philippines. This marked the first time in almost a century where the U.S. had no military presence in the Philippines.

    Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is Elected President
    On January 20th, 2001, Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, who had previously served as the Vice President to Joseph Estrada, was elected the fourteenth President if the Philippines, after Joseph Estrada was forced to leave offfice in the 2001 ESDA Revolution. In November 2011, she was arrested for electoral fraud charges, then released on bail, but re-arrested for misuing 8.8 million dollars of state lottery funds.

    Enterning the first grade, I met my friend Greg LaCroix in Mrs. Potzeba's class, but did not become best friends with him until the fifth grade. Greg is still my friend, and we enjoy just relaxing on the sofa, eating mashed potatoes with our hands.

He is still my friend to this day and when he;s not screaming, "Free Lil' Boosie!", Will and I enjoy kidnapping neighborhood cats and holding them for ransom.

    On September 2nd, 2006, i started the third grade, which became one of my favorite years of schooling. My teacher, Ms. Reagan, encouraged me to be creative and weird, and made me truly love to read books.

    In the late summer of 2008, my family bought our first dog, Nelli, a golden doodle (mix between a golden reteiver and a poodle) only a couple of months old. We still own her to this day, with Nelli's black fur fading to gray, and our lovable pooch spending most pf her free time lounging around the house.

    On the morning of November 23rd, 2009, people were on their way to enter Esmael Mangudadatu as a candidate for govenor of the Maguindanao province, when many were kidnapped and brutally killed. Killing 58 people, the masacre was suspected of being caused by opposing candiate Andal Ampatuan Jr. and other members of a Mulim political clan.

    On June 30, 2010, Benigno Aquino III, son of former president Corazon Aquino, was elected as the 15th President of the Philippines. In his presidency, Aquino has stabilized the economy, fought for womens' rights, and has confronted China's claims to the South China Sea.

    Over the February break of 2012, my family and I visited Atlanta, Georgia, and I loved the South. Whether we were vising the world's biggest aquarium, the CNN station, or the Coca-Cola museum, i was having a great time and an unforgetable experience.
