    Steam Engine Invented
    James Watt adapted the steam engine made by Thomas Newcomen. He perfected that steam engine in 1769 making it usable ways other than pumping water out of mines. This is important because it made a mobile form of energy.

    French Revolution

    This started when the french people stormed the Bastille where they forced the guards to give them weapons and marked the begining of the revolution. This was the first major victory by the people of france against their government. The french people shook off the monarchy throughout the revolution and established a new government led by Napoleon Bonaparte. This is important because the revolution abolished fuedalism and turned the economy around.

    An uprising of the slaves in the French colony on Haiti. The uprising was led but Toussaint L'Ouverture. The slaves overthrew the french slave owners and instituted a new government. This is important because the slaves made their own independant state with their own government.

    A war between the Mexican people and the Spanish people occupying Mexico. The war was led by the Mezitos on the mexicans side. This is important because in the end the Mexican rebels defeated the spanish peninsulares gaining their independance from spain

    The congress was called after Napoleon Bonaparte, the king of france, fell. The congress took place in Vienna, Austria and its main objective was to preserve the peace the Napoleon made. This is important because it was successful in preseving the peace for about half of a century.

    China fought the british because the britsh made an unfair treaty with China called the teaty of nanking. The british defeated the chinese due to their advanced weaponry and warfare.This is important because after the war britain treated the chines very poorly and it set up japan to do the opposite of china

    The Communist Manefesto is a book written by Karl Marx and Friedrick Engels written on the marxist theory and is known as one of the most influential political manuscripts in the world
  • Matthew Perry visits Japan

    Matthew Perry visits Japan
    Matthew Perry takes an American fleet of ships to Japan to attemp to get Japan to open up their trade and Japan cooperated with the Americans, opening up trade to the western world. Japan also modernized and westernized their military tactics. This is important because the upgraded military tactics set up Japan to be a world military power

    The Indians formed an uprising against the british known as the Sepoy Mutiny seen to the british as small uprising that was easily supressed, but to the Indians it was a revolution. The reason for the uprising was the mistreatment of the Indians by the British. In the end the British stopped the rebelions. This is important because it was the first uprising for the indians against the british
  • Unification of Germany

    Unification of Germany
    The princes of all of the German states gathered at the Palace of Versailles to anounce the unification of the Germanic Empire following the Franco-Prussian War. This is important because it turned germany into a world military power

    In the Berlin Conference the european countries divided up Africa and each country took control of a part of Africa. This is important because this started all of the problems in africa and it virtually tore the continent apart

    A war between the Russians and the Japanese over conflicting intrests in Manchuria and Korea. Unexpectedly, Japan defeated Russia marking the first major triumph of an easter power over a western power, majorly shifting the power in the east. This is important because it marked japan as a major world military power
  • Zulu Uprising

    Zulu Uprising
    This was a revolt of the Zulu people against the British in South Africa over the British mistreatment of the Zulus. The British defeated the revolution. This is important because it started a large amount of unease between the british and the africans
  • Dr. Sun Yat-sen takes over China

    Dr. Sun Yat-sen takes over China
    After an uprising in 1911 in china Dr. Sun Yat-sen was elected to take charge of the new china republic. China Changed from a dynastic cycle to a republic. This is important because china had been in the dynast cycle practically for ever and they changed to a republic.
