On a homerun hit by Alex Rodriguez against the Tampa Bay Rays, the umpires gathered together in the end to confirm the home run after using instant replay. This was a turning point in Major League Baseball, in that after this occurrence it has continued to be used for homerun calls, leading to several calls that were overturned as well.

Because of the significance of the call, it was obvious that the question of whether or not we should use instant replay in baseball, not just with fair or foul homeruns arose. This was a huge step for MLB and will be looked at as a turning point in years to come regarding to Instant Replay.
