    Tools (Crafts and Trade)
    During the Bronze Age, beginning in 1200 BCE, many tools, pots, drums, and other crafts were created during this period in Vietnam. This new knowledge allowed them to improve their rudimentary stoned tools, made in oval, circular or triangle shape with sharp edges. These bronze tools also symbolized the overall civilizations advancement.

    Mahayana Buddhism (Religion)
    In Vietnam the most popular religion is Mahayana Buddhism. During the Tran Dynasty, Buddhism was not only very popular, but also became the state religion. Theravada and Catholicsm also exist in Vietnam, but once the Tran Dynasty in the 15th century welcomed it as the official religion, Mahayana Buddhism flourished.

    Starting in 1859 France invaded many parts of Southeast Asia including Vietnam. In 1885, Vietnam lost its independence and became a part of French Indochina. During this violent time period, called the Western Colonial Era, the French government imposed many strict rules and pushed western ideals on Vietnam. Western education as well as catholicsm became more developed.

    The communist National Liberation Front in Vietnam began a guerilla campaign in the 1950's against the military regimes that ran the Vietnamese government. In 1965, the United States began to support the Vietnamese government against the communist forces. The United States withdrew its forces on March 29, 1973. The war continued until July 7, 1976. The Vietnam War was extremely important because it changed the government in Vietnam as well as affected world politics.

    In April of By 1985 Vietnam had two large satilite stations, enabling Vietnamesse citizens to communicate with eachother more efficiently. 1987 the Sixth National Party Congress made an effort to find investers to support the transportation system within Vietnam. This would greatly help Vietnamesse people, as well as internal trade networks. Both of these movements contribute to Vietnam's improving global status and urbanization.

    The Water-rice civilization in the Red River Delta was an important part of the Van Lang Kingdom from 2879 BCE untill 258 BC. This changed the social hierarchy by allowing lower classes to work and providing affordable food. Rice cultivation was a major facet of life during this time period because it brought communities together.

    In 938 CE, Ng Quyn was a Vietnamese lord in Vietnam. Vietnam had been under Chinese control for over 10 centuries. Ng Quyn was able to defeat the Chinese army in a battle at the Bch ng River. This was extremely important for Vietnamese political development because they were finally able to rule independently.

    During the Ly and Tran Dynasties, early Vietnam went through a Golden Era in 938 BC. During this time period the Vietnamesse people enjoyed a higher quality of life. This era showed many improvements in developing technology, finding material wealth, and development in the arts such as this ornate golden archway.
