Creation of the Bicycle
Karl von Drais designed the first commercially successful two-wheeled, steerable, human-propelled machine, called a Draisine. It was initially manufactured in Germany and France. Constructed almost entirely of wood, the draisine weighed 22 kg, had brass bushings, iron-shod wheels, and a rear-wheel brake. The Creation of the Motorcycle
After the discovery of the bicycle in 1860s France, inventors all around the world started formulating their designs for an automated version of this transport device. Gottlieb Daimler and Wilhelm Maybach managed to produce the first modern model of motorcycle. They managed to attach a small petroleum-based combustion engine to the wooden bicycle frame. Creation of the Airplane
The Wright brothers invented and flew the first airplane in 1903, recognized as "the first sustained and controlled heavier-than-air powered flight". Airplanes had a presence in all the major battles of World War II. The first jet aircraft was the German Heinkel He 178 in 1939. Pearl Harbor
"December 7th, 1941 — a date which will live in infamy— America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan." The Japenese plotted an attack on the U.S naval forces in Hawaii, hoping to destroy naval power. Multiple Japanese bomber planes attacked ships with troops aboard, causing the death of hundreds, being trapped inside the hull. "NASCAR Strictly Stock Series inaugural race was the first stock car race sanctioned by the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (Nascar)". Cuban Missile Crisis
The U.S. found evidence of Soviet missiles in Cuba through satellite images causing JFK to order a naval blockade surrounding Cuba. Stalemate of each side waiting to fire missiles at the other. Gulf of Tonkin incident
North Vietnamese boats attacked American destroyers. Details were sketchy, for two reports may have been false claims of an attack. Created an opportunity for President Lyndon B. Ford Gt40 Lemans Ferrari Defeat
