  • Battle of Concord

    The British were ordered to capture military supplies that reportedly stored in concord. Little did the British know, the colonists knew they were coming, by the time the British got to concord, the supplies were all moved to a new location. The colonists held the British off, and more minutemen showed up and showed up the British troops.
  • Siege of Boston

    During the Battle of Lexington & Concord, American colonial foreces closed in on the city of boston. New England militiamen surrounded the city of boston,to prevent movement by the british army. The Americans, led by George Washington eventually forced the British to withdraw from the city after the 11 month siege.
  • Battle of Bunker Hill

    Americans occupied 2 hills north of boston in June, 1775. On June 17th, the British army attacked. As the British troops neared the Americans on Breed's Hill, 1,600 patriots poured musket fire into their ranks. In the end, the British won, but it came at a cost. Nearly 1,100 of the 2,400 British soliders died of got wounded.

  • Battle of Long Island

    To protect New York City from the British forces on Staten Island, George Washington sent some of his small army to defend Brooklyn Heights on Long Island. There were several unsuccessfull peace overtures. After Sir Williams troops defeated American forces, the corps commander prepared for the main attack. Sir William then layed siege intead of storming into Brooklyn Heights. Washington then saw the position hopeless and evacuated.
  • Battle of Trenton

    Washington's army crossed the Delaware to suprise the British in Trenton. The main attack was made by 2,400 troops under Washington on the Hessian Garrison. Washington's troops acheived total surprise and defeated the British forces. The American victory was the first of the war.
  • Battle of Princeton

    Following his suprise victory in Trenton, Washington set out to deafeat somewhere else before winter quarters. He crossed the delaware into new jersey, Washington was able to attack British troops and defeat them and get out before General Cornwallis could arrive with reinforcements.

  • Battle of Saratoga

    The Battle started in Bemis Heights, New York in early September. In the Beginning, the British were taking over, but then the Americans took over. The British captured Fort Ticonderoga, and made the Americans give it up. In the end, the British surrender and American wins.
  • Battle of Germantown

    While the British occupied Philidelphia during the American War, the greater part of their army camped in Germantown. George Washington attempted a suprise counter-attack on the main British camp. Bad weather and bad coordination resulted in American defeat, heavy losses, and withdrawal to winter quarters at Valley Forge.
