    Dust Bowl

    The dust bowl was the result of a period of dust storms that damaged agricultural crops. During these times the days would get really dark and an accumulation of dust would cover the homes of people.
  • Smoot Hawley Tariff Act

    This act was passed to protect famers and industries from foreign competitors. Although this was supposed to help it raised the prices on imports which caused people not be able to afford them.
  • The Revenue Act

    The revenue act was passed to raise taxes on personal, corporate and sale taxes. With this being in law in raised the tax rate up to 63%, although many people believed this would help restore confidence however it did not and made the depression worse.
  • Bank Holiday

    For an entire week during March banks were shut down in effort to restore confidence in financial systems. This would help the banks manage any problems they had in order to be stable enough to open back again.

    This act was passed to stabilize the banking system. Overall is was known to provide relief for the national emergency banking that was occurring.

    This act banned private ownership of any gold and transferred it to the US Treasury and prohibited the financial institutions from getting money for the gold.

    A surprise military attack made by the Japanese Navy Air was made at the United States Naval Base.

    After a famous person "Rosie the Riveter" influenced many women to enter the workforce during the war, which helped fill the gaps of the men who were at the war.

    These camps were specifically designed for those of Japanese descent, where they were kept to live in small homes. In these homes many people lived there the conditions weren't really good and there was no way of leaving since they were seen as a threat during the war.

    This conference was held by Nazi and Germany leaders to plan a genocide to eliminate the Jews. This was a problem to them because many of them were migrating and this seemed to cause a dislike towards them.

    This plan proposed that the United States would provide assistance to Europe in order for them to restore economic infrastructure.

    This war was fought by North and South Korea. North Korea attacked South Korea in attempt to gain control over all the Korean territory.

    The whole purpose of the wall was to prevent people from escaping to the West from East Berlin. This was all stopped however when the wall thousands of people were able to move through leading up to the fall of the wall.
