    The Battle of Fort Sumter was important because it marked the beginning of the Civil War. Major Anderson and his men did not leave South California like the Confederates wanted him to. He hoped that his relief ship would come in time to bring him supplies. Unlucky, the ship was fired by the Confederation. Anderson noticed that he ran out of food. He had no chance to win, so he decided to surrender the fort to the Southern Army.

    The Battle of Bull Run was the first major land battle of the Civil War. This battle was critical because it was the first actual fight between the Union and the Confederates. Although the Union had more soldiers and also, they prepared well, they still lost the battle. The Confederates proved that the number of forces did not matter but the experience did.

    The Battle of Fredericksburg took place at the city of Fredericksburg in northern Virginia. It was one of the most decisive victories for the South. The Union Army had suffered so many losses in the battle. While the South celebrated their accomplishment, Abraham Lincoln came under increasing political pressure because of the delay ending.

    Battle of Hampton Roads is a different name to called "Battle of Monitor and Merrimack". It was famous because it was the first clash between two ironclad warships. For this battle, it was hard to tell which side was the winner. However, it changed the future of naval warfare because wooden ships no longer would be used in war anymore.

    The Battle of Antietam took place near Sharpsburg. The Union soil stopped the Confederate Army to invade Maryland. It was one of the most essential events because it was where Abraham Lincoln decided to use the victory as a chance to announce the Emancipation Proclamation. It was a document that gave freedom for slaves in the South when the Union took control.
