  • american revolution

    The colones in america revolted against the british and gained independence. The colenes then write a constitution. This shows the french that revolution can succeed
  • National Assembly formed

    The third estate gave themselves power to change and make laws. This was the the first act of revolution. This was the first time power was taken away from the king, Franch was no longer a absolute monarchy.
  • Tennis Court Oath

    The Third estate was blocked from meeting with the other estates. In retaliation they broke into a tennis court and wrote a constitution. They broke away from the other estates and became indepent.
  • Storming of the Bastille

    The members of the third estate were scared that the first estate was going to attack them. They stormed the Bastille looking for weapons. This was the first violent act of revolution.
  • the Great Fear

    peasants started attacking nobility and royalty. This wave of fear caused the king to flee the country. This was a time of Great instability in france.
  • radical Jacobins take power

    The Jacobins were the more radical part of the revolution. lead by Maximilien Robespierre, they took power from the other parties. The most radical party takes power and France's power as a nation goes down
  • France goes to war with Austria and Prussia

    weaked france declares war on Austria and Prussia. This weakens them even more leading to panic.
  • Reign of Terror

    Robespierre used fear to make people follow him. 40,000 people were executed during the Reign of Terror. This show how people can use fear to force other peoples hands. The end the the Reign of Terror marks the end of a part of the revolution and the beginning of a more modern era.
  • King Louis executed

    He was striped of power and tryed for treason, he was found guilty by the national convention. this is the end of the monarchy in France.
  • Napoleon take power

    Napoleon was a very well known general at the time. there was no one in charge because of the execution of Robespierre, Napoleon was able to take power. france was revolting to get rid of dictators but put one in to power right after
