    Setting our 21st Century Vision and Mission
    SJUSD just restructured our Mission to assure all students are College and Career ready: "We exist to educate and empower all students to achieve academic excellece, personal growth and social responsibility."
    Our Vision: "We provide a nuturing, innovative, inspiring environment to ensure every student graduates equipped with a passion for learning, the motivation to act responsibly and the capacity to be critical thinkers as they successfully navigate their own unique futures."
  • Technology Professional Development Begins - Ongoing

    Technology Professional Development Begins - Ongoing
    Professional Development will be provided to keep teachers and staff updated with the use of Chromes, since that is the most popular device purchased and used in our district. Haiku, Google forms and documents, Google Classroom, social media apps such as Twitter, Instagram... will be taught.
    A technology Scope and Sequence is developed and embedded into each quarter.
    Dinner with Data begins in Sept.

    Professional Development with technology for Parents will be offered to support student and parent learning at home, teach parents how to access Parent Portal for student grades, use social media to keep up on district news and events... A new Family Engagment Specialist and Communications Specialist position was created. Both will work with the Strategic Plan sub committees to provide parent trainings to consistently update district information.

    Expansion of our CTE Pathways planning will begin, providing each high school student an opportunity to enroll in a CTE pathway that will assist them towards their college field of study or career.

    Student 1:1 Devices M.S & H.S. - Digitally We Can Learn Together - Ongoing
    SJHS has 1:1 devices for 9th - 11th graders, with textbooks on line. By next year we will have 1:1 devices in 12th grade, and will work on 1:1 devices grades 6th - 8th.
    Student and teacher will work together with digital literacy, PBIL, and utilize social media appropriately to share what is being learned inside classrooms and content areas.

    Creating Makers in School - Ongoing Learning
    Students in all academic levels will be introduce to "Learning by Doing" through the creation of Makerspace lessons and activities, that are tied direcly to CCSS. Students will be able to explore and develop the mindset of a Maker, apply their knowledge and skill set to real-life, as they become Divergent Thinkers who think "Out of the Box" when collaborating with peers and testing their thought processes. As Sir Ken Robinson said, "Wake students up to see what they have inside themselves."

    All sites will be ready to adapt with changes needed to be College and Career Ready. Middle Schools will have exposure to CTE pathways, and elementary school will host College and Career Expo's displaying research and technolgy advancements into "What They Will Be When They Grow Up." Connections to skill sets will be evident, and students will take virtual tours of careers in different fields, and of colleges providing diff. majors/fields of study. Classrooms and instr. will be all digital.
