    Over the October long weekend around 50 women were ordered off of Bondi Beach for wearing offensive swimwear. Many people in the media took advantage off this placing people on the beach in bikinis then reporting on it in front of the life guards. Many of these 50 women were either arrested or given a ticket and some even banned from the beach.

    "John Glenn’s Mercury mission launched on Feb. 20, 1962. He named his spacecraft “Friendship 7.” He made three orbits of Earth and spent about five hours in space. His mission successfully showed that the Mercury spacecraft worked in space the way it was intended.     These French fashion designers revolutionized womenswear with their "space outfits". This 'new look' took over the world with many embracing this fashion.

    This was the first time an Australian won this tournament. As well as wining the singles in tennis she was also ranked number one women.

    The first Compact Disk was invented by American physicist James Russel who was dissapointed with the wear and tear of vinyls. Russel created his CD whilst trying to improve his record player and began to use a light to read the music instead of a stylus.

    The Beatles arrive and perform in Australia. With after not originally being included in the original itinerary the Beatles arrived in Adelaide, on the 12th of June 1964, to the biggest reception they would ever receive with a crowd of roughly 300,000 people lined the streets from the airport to the city surrounding the Southern Australian Hotel where the band was staying.

    Prime Minister Sir Robert Menzies announced the commitment for Australian troops for South-East Asian fighting, It was Australia's judgement that the decision to commit a battalion.The country contributed some 60000 soldiers to the American war effort.

    At the 1965 Melbourne Cup, an English model by the name of Jean Shrimpton wore a very controversial outfit. She wore a short synthetic white shift dress, with no gloves, stockings or hat.

    On 14th of January the first bank notes of the new Australian currency were issued. After almost being called 'the Royal' the note became called the 'dollar.' The 1, 2, 5, 10 and 20 dollar denominations for notes were chosen on the belief that they represented the best combination to make up any given amount with the least number of notes.

    Ronald Ryan was the last person to be executed in Australia. He got the death sentence after he was found guilty of shooting and killing warden George Hodson during an attempt to escape from Melbourne's Pentridge Prison.

    Now with a solid 58 fights under his belt, Palmer teamed 'Fammo' up with famed British promoters, Mike Barrett and Mickey Duff. A match was made against classy Cuban Jose Legra for the world featherweight title at Albert Hall in London on January 21, 1969. In a very tough encounter Famechon out pointed Legra to become the champion of the world.

The packet switching of the ARPANET was based on designs by British scientist Donald Davies and Lawrence Roberts of the Lincoln Laboratory. This later evolved into the world wide web.
