Desmond Doss
Desmond Doss was a combat medic who fought at hacksaw ridge. During the night time, after the U.S. had retreated down the ridge, Doss remained where he was and brought over 75 men down the ridge with a rope. He even saved the lives of some Japanese men. However through it all, he was not allowed to carry a gun. His morals did not let him carry a gun so he didn’t have much way to protect himself. He served from 1942-1946. -
