    Women's fashion helps economy
    Through the Great Depression and World War 2, many American women worked in industrial, farming or fashion industries. This is because their husbands or spouses served across the world. Then, this created more opportunities for more clothing items since there was more cotton being grown in the south. This changed women's fashion forever.
  • Mt. Rushmore

    Mt. Rushmore
    Mt. Rushmore was built in 1927 and finished in 1941 in Black Hills, South Dakota. It killed and injured over 400 people while building it. It was to honor our important presidents in U.S history.
  • Pearl Harbor

    Pearl Harbor
    Japan wanted to have a share in China's economy, but they US did not let them, therefore, Japan believed the only way to solve the issue was to expand their territory and import market. Then, hundreds of Japanese fighter planes destroyed over 20 American Naval vessels and 300 airplanes in an American base of Honolulu, Hawaii called Pearl Harbor. This resulted in 2,400 deaths and left over 1,00 wounded.

    Due to the attack on Pearl Harbor, FDR made Internment camps (exec. Order 9066) which established a place for people of Japanese descent to live during world war 2. America wanted to make sure that there would be no repeat of what happened in Hawaii but resulted in 117,000 Japanese Americans to move from their home states of California, Oregon and Washington. This eventually ended March 20,1946.
  • Rosie the Riveter

    Rosie the Riveter
    Rosie was a star icon of campaign that aimed at recruiting female workers for defense industries during World War 2. This then created more opportunities for women such as a chance to have a fair wage and same benefits as men. She was found on newspapers and around towns on posters to promote jobs. This then created a job increase from 27% of women in the work force to 37%.

    The Americans and British had to invade Italy because Mussolini, the dictator wanted to create a fascist government similar to the Roman Empire. America tried to make peace but Germany, Italy's axis Allie did not agree. Therefore, we went into Sicily, then Messina and Italy eventually surrendered.

    D-Day invasion
    Since Nazi occupied Germany was expanding over France, the US and Canada decided to invade on D-Day on 5 France Normandy beaches. Then, by late 1944 the Allies won and took over France.

    Philippine Independence
    The Philippines finally become free from the U.S in 1946. Before this, Spain controlled the islands until the U.S made a peace treaty in 1902 for the land. Then, the Spanish American war killed 4 million Filipinos. Eventually the U.S gave the Filipinos their land back.
